Brides have always looked to their favourite celebrity and style icons for inspiration for their special day. From Royalty to Hollywood stars, let’s take a look at how some of the most famous weddings of all time influenced several of our favorite designs over the years.
Shoulder pads, pouf, bling and excess. The 80’s did not disappoint! Princess Diana’s dress epitomized the style of the decade and so did her flowers. The bouquet itself was 42 inches long and 15 inches wide! It included stephanotis, freesia, orchids, Lilly of the valley, earl mountain roses, ivy, veronica and of course the traditional myrtle.
Bride’s today look to trend setters such as Gwen Stefani in that magnificent pink Galliano gown, to Solange Knowles whose edgy, yet absolutely stunning wedding jumpsuit (with a cape!!) by Humbert Leon for Enzo was to die for. And the florals are just as edgy and trendsetting.
Kim and Kanye’s floral wall inspired by Raf Simon for Dior. Who could forget that? Florals walls became all the rage after their wedding when in fact it first made waves at the 2012 Dior Couture show.
Mandy Moore’s pink ruffled bohemian dress, the incredible dyed pink gypsophila wedding trellis and pink hued pampas grass that lined the aisle were all the perfect accent to her gorgeous sunset ceremony.
And of course, we can’t forget the royal weddings of Kate and Meghan. Both brides kept the tradition of sprigs of myrtle in their simple and understated bouquets.
I could go on and on. But then this blog would end up being 100 pages long! Looking for inspiration from celebrities and royalty is a trend that will never go out of style. But just remember that your day should always be a reflection of your own personal style and taste.
